Born in 1970 and still living in the oldest city of the Netherlands; Nijmegen, Richard Koper has
been fascinated with music all his life. As a kid he grew up with electronic music from Jean
Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk & Depeche Mode. Continuing his youth as a radio DJ, of a local radio
station, soon to be followed by fiddling with early sequencer software on his Amiga 500. This
sequencer software was called OctaMed, hence the AKA OctaMediator. Richard mixed &
produced Acid House and Techno at the early nineties. Because of his time-consuming ICT
career mixing/making music went on hold.
But because of the COVID-19 situation he picked up his old passion for music, last year (2020) &
bought some nice DJ & MIDI –gear, so he could start a small studio at home. After a few
months learning his new gear & Ableton Live DAW, he was confident enough to publish some
tracks onto SoundCloud and to his big surprise MojoHeadz Records discovered one of his dark
techno tracks; “Walk into the Darkness”. A cinematic, dark techno track, with some industrial
synths & heavily influenced by some great techno producers like KAS:ST, Charlotte de Witte &
Boris Brejcha. OctaMediator is still searching for his own style, so you can expect some nice
(experimental) Techno, Acid house & Trance tracks in the near future.
